To those who are surrounded by Safeway & Target (I’m assuming California or Northern California or Bay Area of California)Target is selling yoplait yogurt cheaper than safeway. My current update is that Safeway is selling it for 7 for 10$ with club membership card. Target is selling it for 67 cents. Ten of those 67 cents will be around $6.70 cents. That’s much cheaper than Safeway. Oh, and if you collect them now & save the lids, you’ll be saving lives! I think you can redeem your lids online and through mail. Read the lid for more info. Just for your information :]PS. Yes, I’m at the library. && Yes I know all my yogurt pictures on this blog are blueberry flavor. So yes, blueberry is my favorite.

L. Acidophilus. The probiotic that is in my yogurt.
I’ve been having really crazy stomach problems lately, so my mom bought me a bunch of yogurt (and they’re all blueberry, my favorite! haha)
They’re great for your GI tract, so I’m hoping this works! Come on yoplait, play!

Probiotics vs. Prebiotics

There are actually good bacteria. The ones that are naturally found in your colon can make vitamin K. Also, they’re the ones responsible for making you fart as well. There are bacteria that help protect you from the bad ones. Probiotics and prebiotics are good bacteria. They help your GI tracts!

Probiotics - Introducing new strains of bacteria in your gastrointestines, just to help it out a little more. They’re also added to food and they can survive the low pH in the GI. Found in Yogurt! I did two types of work on probiotics and studies show that it may help with autism and atopic dermatitis. I hope it does!

Prebiotics - Bacteria that are added into food to enhance the food. Unlike probiotics, they don’t do well with the acidity, so they’re mostly used to enhance the product. When digested, it “feeds” the bacteria that are already in your colon to enhance their growth. Example is Fructooligosaccharide (try sayin’ this 5 times fast!!), inulin and honey!

I like to remember it as, probiotics put a whole new bacteria in your GI to help it. Prebiotics is basically like a bacteria being fed to a bacteria. The only main difference between the two is that one is directly helping the GI (pro) while the other enhances the food and indirectly helps the GI (pre).

Tip: If you’re traveling to a new country, it’s advisable to consume a lot of probiotics before you go so that your GI is ready for all the obstacles it’ll encounter (like the new food)

“I always go to yogurtland near fullerton”
Adam wanted some yogurtland. I’m not a big fan of frozen yogurt. Best friend says she can make this at home, I’m still waiting on that.
It’s interesting though. Frozen yogurt places make a big deal of how ‘healthy’ it is, but really..it’s not. Take this as an example: Yogurt could contain probiotics, but some of those microorganisms could be lost in processing. Also, the amount of frozen yogurt depends on your portion size and even the toppings. Come on, really? sprinkles and all those candy toppings. There was an article I read that compared frozen yogurt with icecream and it said it was basically equivalent. It compared with Red Mango and some other branches. I couldn’t find that exact article in my archives so I found this one from the New York Times instead. Check it out…(link)Frozen yogurt is good, but I would prefer icecream over it ANY DAY! :]
PS. I think someone placed a bet on someone, and..it’s definitely not me.

Blueberry yogurt
It’s not something I made, but it’s something I ate and felt it was important to share.
Of all the yoplait yogurts, I love blueberry. Today, I did my autism presentation, nutrition part. Whenever I eat yogurt, I think of probiotics. When I think of probiotics, I think of autism and my research paper. ha. Which means, I should get back to my paper for 100w now. haha.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that people should donate to nationalautismassociation.com.
please? autism is the least funded research and it’s so common!
