Here’s something about me: I don’t like carrots and that means any forms of it.

My brother had this great idea after seeing 2 bags of carrots that I bought for mom. He suggested that we have carrot juice tonight. I cringed at the thought of drinking carrot juice. I totally forgot that we were going to drink it today until I came downstairs only to see my mom putting the carrots in the juice processor.

I had to beg my mom to put apples in there to make it sweeter. I actually was thinking she’d put more in so that it’ll kill the carrot taste, but her and my brother insisted that we stick to carrots. :[[ So I held my nose and chugged the juice down.

So here it is, carrot juice. There was no added sugar so it was strictly raw food. Homemade juices are awesome because you have control of what you can put in there and it has so much nutritious benefits. It’s better to drink it immediately after prepared because the nutrition can be gone while in storage.

As I was reading my text book, I came across this little information about juice processors. Juice processors typically have enzymes to help extract more juice out and can be used to clarify the juice. I’ll have to look into that more, but it is still quite interesting.

Oh, and mom dumped the carrot residue stuff into our garden. Yay for composting. :]

Farmer’s Market!

Farmer’s market is a great place to go to shop for grocery! You’re saving a lot and you’re helping the environment. :]

Today’s produce:

Accompanied by sister and mother

YELLOW RASPBERRY? I’ve never seen it before! I quick look up, and I think it’s known as golden raspberry? It tasted the same as the red ones.

Cherry Season :] Cherries are high in pectin (soluble fiber) soluble fiber is good for lowering cholesterol.:]

Healthy food are the colorful foods. Not fried food that are brown and black! Colors=healthy=smiles. Vitamin A deficiency is one of the leading deficiencies in third world countries. You can find Vitamin A in orangy-yellowy fruits and veggies. To name some, carrots and mangoes!

Ended the day with a bunch of bags. Sister left today back to her university to take college course. She brought with her some healthy foods.  :]

Nufs 21 - Soup Day

For my required cooking class, we made 2 different types of soups. Cream of carrot and Roasted Vegetable soup. The Cream of Carrot is suppose to be cream of brocolli, but since all of us were practicing on cutting (using carrots as our food to chop) we decided to turn it into cream of carrot.
The cream of carrot was absolutely DE LISH IS!!!! I am not a big fan of carrots either!
The Roasted vegetable soup is okay. I didn’t like it too much. I love wednesdays. I get free lunch! :]

I’m going to make cream of something one of these days..so keep on the look out!
